This area has both coarse mature pines and spruce trees in various stages of degradation for the benefit of several rare species. Everything from mosses and lichens, fungi and insects to a variety of birds thrive here. Many old trees are clad by hanging lichens.
The former reserve was formed in 1943 Domain for the preservation of very old pine and spruce in a landscape otherwise used and became a nature reserve 1999. Together with the nearby northern reserve Konsterud this area covers 5.9 hectare.

Many special plants and animals can provide you with rich experiences and memories. Be careful on your walk in the park so that they can live on.
Winter storm in 2004 resulted in many fallen trees which in turn benefits insects and birds. Be extra careful in these parts of the reserve.
