Nature path - Varnumsviken

Walk from Marieberg along the bay Varnumsviken, in lake Vänern, to the historical site of Gustafsvik. 4 km one way.
The historical site Gustavsvik is located in the inner part of the bay Varnumsviken, in the lake Vänern. You can walk here on a pedestrian and bicycle path from Marieberg (where the artmuseum is), through Ålkärr and along the edge of the bay.
At a distance you will pass the farm of Östervik and the chapel called Österviks kapell. Along the way there are meadows with a special flora and fauna and a rich birdlife.

At Gustavsvik the avenue is full of rare trees. The actul Manor house at Gustavsvik burnt down in the late 1960´s but you can still roam in the garden, pastures and small forests. During the summertime, the café of Gustafsvik's mansion is run by Sockerslottet in the western wing and gardening is run by Nissebo Garden.

Down at the bay is a birdwatching tower.
Today the riding club resides here with stables, a paddock and café (open weekends at competitions and certain lessons, weekdays in the evenings during lessons).
