Kristinehamn is the place for adventure for everyone, old and young alike: boat rides on the lake, beaches with shallow bathing waters, huge smooth rocks perfect for sunbathing on, eating out, entertainment, culture and much more. If you are one of our more active visitors then you may like to walk along all, or part of, the "Iron Trail" (Järnleden), which is 30 km long and dates back to the time of Gustav Wasa. You could also ride a trolley bike through local forests or go fishing.
Kristinehamn was first known as Bro. It was a trading centre and market place located around the bridge that led the main road between Sweden and Norway over the Varnan river. In the 1600s-1800s it was the most important port of shipment for the iron from Bergslagen mining region. In 1642 Bro was garanted a town charter by Queen Christina´s regency and the name of Kristinehamn in her honour. At that time, abourt 200 people lived here.
We enjoy having overnight guests. It makes it possible for us to pamper our guests even more. If you prefer hotel, a cabin or B & B we have a range of alternatives both in the city, in the countyrside and nearby the lake Vänern. You are warm welcome to Kristinehamn.
The food you eat in the restaurant, comes from Värmland farms.
