It was a very warm, sunny July day when we ventured to Kristinehamn. We heard about the Picasso Sculpture and with it being on the lake, we knew it was a perfect way to spend the day. We used to live in Karlstad and now come back to visit regularly and we were absolutely blown away to find the little haven that Kristinehamn is just a short drive (roughly 30 minutes) away. As we arrived in Kristinehamn, we drove along the shores of Lake Vänern and stopped a moment to take in the scenery. The sun was glistening on the water, the forest tree lines in the distance and we felt an instant calm. We parked the car up and walked a very short distance to the Picasso Sculpture. I mean, you can't miss it! We followed the track down to the waters edge to get the main view of the Sculpture and it was actually much larger then we expected. And somehow, nestled in amongst the stunning scenery it fits in perfectly.
With plenty of benches and seats located around the area it's great to just sit for a moment, listening to the water and taking the sights in.
The track surrounding the Sculpture is very family friendly and we pushed our double pushchair around with ease as we followed the trail through the trees until we came back out to the main road. Where we stopped for  some ice cream and fika in the idyllic Skärgårdscafet with gorgeous views out looking to the Vänern and the Picasso Sculpture.
And no Swedish summer day can end without cooling off in the lake.
Perfect, family friendly day that honestly, we will always remember and have since recommended to friends who are visiting in the area.
